She mentioned you had a good sense of humor which I appreciate.

Saw the first Japanese beetle about a week ago here. They will destroy every rose in my garden from July to Oct. Sad but I've stopped fighting. I tried everything. Hand picking is out of the question unless I picked for 8 hours a day. Bags fill up get emptied, fill up again--and still the number of beetles on the roses does not decrease.

Anyway, I enjoyed your postings. Your garden is beautiful. I'll stop back to see what's new.Roses and Lilacshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07121676379580186489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2975676572078060876.post-90549119108922249202008-07-03T09:10:00.000-04:002008-07-03T09:10:00.000-04:00Cosmo, When you get the chance could you email me ...Cosmo, When you get the chance could you email me at ramseytina5@gmail.com?tinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17415302577518111227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2975676572078060876.post-51153064951801717812008-07-02T18:45:00.000-04:002008-07-02T18:45:00.000-04:00hello,I am so glad you stopped by and left a comme...hello,
I am so glad you stopped by and left a comment. I enjoyed this post even if it was about ticks and chiggers and japanese beetles!

Last week I was so covered with chigger bites I thought I was going to get a secondary infection. I went to REI and bought a shirt impregnated with bug repellent, then I tuck my jeans in my socks spray deet on the pants and head out side! Well I sweat a lot!! But so far no major bites!

We don't have deer yet but if water and food become a bigger problem and the developers develop all the woodlands I expect them to move in with us!

Gail
clay and limestoneGailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16194325535496408116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2975676572078060876.post-83025395860732718532008-07-02T13:26:00.000-04:002008-07-02T13:26:00.000-04:00Hi there and welcome to the world of blogging. I am with you on the tick bites-about one a day. URRRRR! They are so prolific. Anyhow, the daisies will still be there later and are pretty. I too have those fences and like them, though some don't. Functionality is the word of the day in my garden.tinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17415302577518111227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2975676572078060876.post-15553628003136257312008-07-01T20:12:00.000-04:002008-07-01T20:12:00.000-04:00Cosmo,Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the p...Cosmo,

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the positive comments. There are not many of us in this area who are posting. It looks like a lot of work to manage your property. My own patch of Earth is only 100' x 35' and it keeps me plenty busy.

Have you found Jeff's blog at:

http://transitionalgardener.blogspot.com/

I think he is in Newport News.

I plan on stopping by and seeing your progress, you are off to a good start. I have to go now, my chigger bites need tending.

LesLeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18281256160705697856noreply@blogger.com
